Documenting my experience setting up dual boot on my windows machine.

Current setup

Hardware : Minisform UM790 Pro with a windows 11 that I recently booted.

Memory : 64 GB, SSD : 2 TB

The guide I’m using as a reference is https://ostechnix.com/dual-boot-windows-and-debian

I’ve been able to follow most of the steps smoothly and prepare a usb drive with the latest debian iso using the BalenaEtcher program, as mentioned.

Blocker

When I restart my machine, I can’t see the usb as one of the boot options, damn!

Tried many times and no luck. tried plugging the usb in and out, but no luck.
Now I’m trying to ditch debian for ubuntu and follow the process from the beginning.

What unblocked me?

There are a few things I did differently. I switched to another guide, which suggested to use ubuntu instead of debian, and fedora media writer instead of balenaEtcher.
